Horns are important in the Aluris' culture and social life, as no other part of their body represents their gemme as well as their horns.
Aluris have a variety of uses for horns; usually including defending themselves from predators or fighting members of their own species. Horns are very strong and hard to break due to them being made of their gemme, a combination of special keratins and proteins, which surround the bone. Their horns are permanent, which is why their horns don´t grow back if they fall off. It's extremely painful to lose a horn because they are connected to the blood system and the magic gemme. Textures are pretty diverse and can range from smooth to ringed or even bumpy. Even complex textures like swirls and similar textures are possible on Aluri horns! Horns can also have mutations.
|
The horns start to grow after birth. It´s possible that a young Aluri isn´t able to develop their pair of horns completely due some genetic effects or similar disadvantages. This is a mutation called "Scur". Horns breaking on their own can be a sign of dark magic influence (or worse, wretch disease) which is considered as a rare trait. As horns gain more branches or detail, they gain more rarity. You are free to come up with horns not shown before! |
